PITCH was a site-responsive performance research project which explored dozens of public urban sites in Portland, asking: How do we move in encoded spaces? How do we send messages through peopled environments? and What kind of responses do performing bodies illicit in non- traditional performance spaces? We used a huge variety of original and borrowed movement scores; a gestural language developed by the dancers to direct each other in space, time, and task; and recitation of readings and writings from our process. The camera was an important current of the project, as it was fully integrated into the total score and provided dynamic documentation of the whole process from within.
